Afrobeats singer Shoday is heading to Nollywood for the first time, joining Waje in Funke Akindele’s big December movie, ‘The Four.’

So here’s something you probably didn’t see coming. Shoday, the Afrobeats singer we know for his music, not his acting, is about to show up on the big screen. And not in just any movie. He’s making his Nollywood debut in Funke Akindele’s new project, “The Four: No One Fights Alone.”

Yes, that Funke Akindele. The one who basically owns December at the box office.

Shoday won’t be alone in this new territory either. Singer Waje is stepping into the movie too, also as a musician, which honestly makes sense. It’s not every day two music stars end up sharing screen time in a Nollywood blockbuster, and that alone has people talking.

This isn’t a small cast by any means. Think Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, and a few more familiar faces. It’s the kind of lineup that makes you sit up and pay attention, because when names like these come together, you already know the movie is being taken seriously.

If you’ve followed Akindele’s career for a while, this move won’t surprise you too much. She has a habit of pulling musicians into her films. Remember Falz in “Your Excellency” back in 2019? He also popped up in “Everybody Loves Jenifa” in 2024. So Shoday joining the cast fits right into a pattern she clearly enjoys.

And it goes both ways, too. Akindele herself has appeared in music videos before, including Wizkid’s “Pakurumo” and, more recently, FOLA’s “EKO.” So really, the music and movie worlds keep bumping into each other, and she’s usually somewhere in the middle of it.

The Four” drops in cinemas on December 11, 2026, right in that sweet spot Akindele has turned into her own personal tradition. She already holds the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood film ever, thanks to hits like “Battle on Buka Street,” “A Tribe Called Judah,” and “Behind The Scenes.”

So the question on everyone’s mind now is simple. Can Shoday hold his own next to all these seasoned actors? We’ll find out come December, but one thing’s for sure, Nigerians are already excited to see how this turns out.
