Sunday, August 9, was the kind of night that reminds you why this show never gets boring. Martins Iyeh, a creative director and model from Kogi State, was the first name called. And here’s the painful part, it was his birthday. Imagine celebrating turning a year older and getting your eviction notice in the same breath. That’s rough by anyone’s standard.
Martins came into the house with a fun, quirky vibe. He’s a basketball guy at heart, jokes about being able to read minds, and freely admits he asks way too many questions. Voters clearly weren’t as charmed as he hoped, though, because he pulled the lowest votes in this first eviction round.

But Biggie wasn’t done yet. Not long after, Mercedes, real name Ijeoma Emi, also got the tap on the shoulder. She’s 28, from Delta State, and works as a performance artist and massage therapist. Before entering the house, she’d promised fans authenticity, confidence, and plenty of vulnerable moments. Turns out her BBNaija journey ended earlier than she probably imagined.

So why does this matter? Because it’s only week three, and the house is already thinning out. With this year’s “Show Ya Self” theme and a ₦160 million prize on the line, every eviction hits differently. Fans had barely settled into rooting for their favorites, and two housemates are already gone.
There’s been plenty going on behind the scenes too. Sheba bagged the Week 2 Head of House title after finishing a task in just six minutes, and she used her power to save Chisom Chuka from facing eviction. Meanwhile, Nomy had the rough end of the stick, she came last in the HOH challenge and got slapped with the “Bench Warmer” punishment, meaning she has to wear a special outfit all week and sit on an assigned bench, except during Saturday parties and arena games.
It’s still early days, but this season is already proving it won’t hold back. Two housemates down, twenty-two left standing, and Nigerians are watching closely to see who survives the next round.
