Toyin Abraham finally addresses the viral Funke Akindele snub, reflecting on industry tensions, self-worth, marriage, and moving on.

Toyin Abraham has finally spoken about the viral moment that stirred Nollywood gossip for weeks. Her reaction was calm, measured, and pointedly unwilling to reopen old wounds.

The actress said she has no interest in dragging the Funke Akindele incident further, even though the clip of their tense exchange at a movie premiere kept circulating online.

The controversy began when a video from Iyabo Ojo’s The Return of Arinzo premiere showed Funke Akindele seemingly ignoring Toyin Abraham’s greeting. The clip spread fast, and social media users quickly turned it into one more Nollywood debate.

What made it linger was the history behind it. Months earlier, Toyin had accused Funke’s camp of trying to frustrate her 2025 cinema run, so many viewers saw the premiere moment as part of a bigger tension.

The interview didn’t stay on the feud for long. Abraham shifted into talking about where she is now in her career, years of steady work, she said, have earned her the freedom to pick her projects and her people, without pressure to please anyone she doesn’t want to.

She was blunt about it: she’s done trying to win people over just to stay relevant. That mindset, she explained, comes from gratitude rather than ego.

In the same conversation, on The Morayo Show, Toyin also spoke about where she is in her career now. She said years of hard work and what she sees as God’s favour have given her the freedom to choose projects and people on her own terms.

Toyin also turned personal, sharing that her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, may not be the most romantic man, but he gives her space to thrive. She said that support has helped her stay grounded in a demanding industry.

She added that trust has been important in their marriage, especially with the realities of her work. Her point was simple: stability often comes from respect, not noise.
