Tiwa Savage reveals her private video leak began as a bet by her then-boyfriend and his friends, calling the betrayal more painful than the leak itself.

Imagine finding out the person you trusted most didn’t just fail to protect your privacy — he gambled it away on purpose. That’s the reality Tiwa Savage says she’s been carrying since 2021, and she’s just broken her silence on exactly how it happened.

The Afrobeats star sat down with The Breakfast Club and dropped a detail nobody saw coming: the leak of her private video wasn’t some random blackmail attempt. It was, she says, a bet between her boyfriend at the time and his friends.

Tiwa said the story she was first told was simple, an accident, a video mishandled while trying to save it. Innocent enough, until the real version surfaced later.

That’s when she learned the leak wasn’t a mistake at all. It came from a wager. Her partner and his friends had apparently made a bet, and her privacy became the prize.
For Tiwa, that revelation hurt worse than the leak itself. It wasn’t just an invasion of privacy anymore, it was a betrayal from someone she loved. She’s since questioned whether the relationship was ever real or just a setup from day one.

The fallout changed how she moves. Tiwa says she no longer meets partners in hotel rooms, worried about hidden cameras. These days, she keeps intimacy in spaces she controls, partly to shield her son from any future exposure to her private life.

Back in 2021, Tiwa leaned on humor to cope, even slipping a reference into her song “Loaded” to seem unbothered. But looking back now, she admits she never truly processed what happened. Today, she’s finally calling it what it was: she was a victim, not a willing participant.

She also shut down years-old rumors that the leak was a publicity stunt, joking that better lighting would’ve been involved if that were true. As for legal action, she says pursuing it became too emotionally exhausting to continue.

Years later, Tiwa Savage’s story is a reminder that public scandals often hide private wounds nobody sees healing in real time.
