Iyabo Ojo opens up on letting ex-husband Ademidun Ojo walk their daughter Priscilla down the aisle, calling it a deliberate break from generational pain.

A wedding already full of glitz became even more memorable because of one unexpected family moment. Iyabo Ojo could have kept her ex-husband far from the spotlight on their daughter’s big day. Instead, she sat beside him, dressed to match, and let him lead their girl to the altar.

When Priscilla Ojo married Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, cameras caught something fans hadn’t seen in over two decades: Iyabo and Ademidun Ojo, side by side, smiling, in coordinated outfits at the Lagos traditional ceremony. Their marriage had ended in 2001, barely two years after it began. For years, Ademidun stayed away from public life, even skipping Priscilla’s earlier Islamic wedding in Tanzania. So when he showed up in Lagos, dancing beside his ex-wife, social media took notice.

Speaking on The Morayo Show, Iyabo said the decision wasn’t about reconciliation. It was about stopping a pattern before it reached her children. She spoke of ancestral cycles, the kind many African families quietly carry from one generation to the next, and said she was determined not to pass hers down.

Her own parents had separated too. She didn’t want Priscilla inheriting that same unresolved weight.

Iyabo was candid about what the moment cost her personally. She admitted to setting aside old hurt and personal history so nothing would stand between Priscilla and a joyful start to her marriage. In her words, she had already paid whatever price was necessary to see her daughter happy.

Asked directly whether Ademidun deserved a place at the wedding, Iyabo didn’t hesitate. Her point was simple: whatever went wrong between her and him was their business, not their daughter’s. A father who is alive, she argued, shouldn’t be shut out of his child’s milestone over conflicts that predate the child entirely.

Priscilla and Juma Jux have since welcomed their first child, a son born in Canada in August 2025. For Iyabo, the wedding moment seems to have closed one chapter and opened another, one where old wounds no longer get to decide who shows up for the next generation.
