Asake’s one-night M$NEY performance in London is now Spotify’s first-ever full concert film. Here’s why the night made history.

The Nigerian star turned Theatre Royal Drury Lane into something it had never seen before: an Afrobeats headline show. It’s the first time in the venue’s storied history that an act from the genre has taken that stage. And now, the entire night lives on forever, as Spotify’s first full-length concert film.
The show, held back in June, was Asake’s first time performing his album M$NEY live since it dropped in May. He didn’t just play the album straight through, either. Fans got four unreleased songs on top of the setlist, backed by a live orchestra and the band The Compozers.
Everyone in the room that night was hand-picked, many of them Asake’s most loyal Spotify listeners, flown in for an experience money usually can’t buy.
This isn’t just a fan moment. It’s a business one too. Spotify has been quietly building a library of exclusive live films from global stars like Bad Bunny and Olivia Rodrigo. Asake’s is the first to get the full feature-length treatment, which says a lot about how seriously the platform is taking Afrobeats, and how seriously it’s taking him.
The film comes packaged with a live audio album, both exclusive to Spotify for now.
Asake described the night as a reflection of gratitude and growth, saying the album was always meant to cross borders and be felt, not just heard. He also teased that a full tour is coming later this year, but said he likes surprising fans before the big rollout.
M$NEY already topped charts in nearly 20 countries and cracked the US Top 10, and Asake remains the most-streamed artist ever on Spotify Nigeria. This concert film adds another first to a year already full of them for him.
For fans who couldn’t get a seat in that London theatre, the film is the closest thing to being there.
