Mercy Eke opens up about her master’s degree struggles, quitting BBNaija for good, and why she’s ready for marriage and a baby now.

Mercy Eke isn’t waiting for anyone’s permission to move on with her life. The former Big Brother Naija winner just dropped a bombshell interview, and it wasn’t about reality TV drama. It was about school, love, and a baby she’s ready to have, with or without a wedding ring first.

Speaking on Toke Makinwa’s podcast, Mercy revealed she nearly quit her MBA program in the UK. Leaving Nigeria, converting naira to pounds, starting over where she knew no one, it wore her down. Only her friends talked her out of walking away. She finished the degree at the University of Sunderland and says it sharpened her business instincts, but she’s firm: she’s never doing another degree again.

Mercy also closed the door on a third BBNaija stint. Her second run, she admits, was chasing the prize money again, and it didn’t work out that way. Since leaving the house, she says she’s been pushing herself daily, building her fashion and lifestyle brand out of sheer determination rather than a windfall.

Here’s the part fans are talking about most. Mercy confirmed she’s been with the same man for four years, and marriage still hasn’t happened. Her response wasn’t bitterness, it was clarity. She says she’s of age, successful, and mentally ready for a home of her own. Her partner keeps telling her he isn’t ready; she says she plans to ask him why.

And when asked whether she’d want marriage before a baby, she didn’t hesitate: she wants the baby now.

Mercy Eke’s honesty cuts through the usual celebrity small talk. She’s not chasing validation, she’s naming exactly what she wants: a family, on her own timeline.
