That’s exactly what happened to Nigerian influencer Caramel, and the person she’s pointing fingers at is none other than Nollywood actress Anita Joseph.
Caramel says she returned from an online break to find a picture she once posted circulating again, except her face had been swapped out. In its place was Anita Joseph’s.
She didn’t hold back. Caramel called out the actress directly, pointing out they’d never interacted online and questioning why anyone would go to such lengths just to repost a stolen image with a new face attached.
She then shared the original photo side by side, letting followers draw their own conclusions.
Rather than deny the claim outright, Anita offered an explanation that shifted the blame elsewhere. She said a member of her creative team, someone she jokingly called her “AI boy,” had generated the image using AI tools inspired by the original picture, without her knowledge.
She apologized to Caramel, even complimenting her looks in the process, and distanced herself from the situation as best she could.
But when Caramel noticed people praising Anita for the very photo she says was stolen from her, she returned with a sharper accusation, insisting flatly that it wasn’t inspiration.
