Brymo opens up about a tense 2019 encounter with 2Baba and Annie Macaulay, using his own past to warn young artists about the cost of crossing lines.

On a recent episode of the Notjustok podcast, the singer set out to warn younger artists about a mistake he says nearly cost him everything. Instead, he ended up dragging himself into one of Nigeria’s most talked-about marriages, and the internet hasn’t stopped talking since.

Brymo says the moment happened inside an office in Lekki Phase 1. He and 2Baba were both there. Then, without warning, 2Baba turned to his then-wife, Annie Macaulay, and asked her directly whether anything had happened between her and Brymo.

Brymo didn’t dress up the memory. He called himself “wicked” for even putting Annie in that position, admitting the weight of that stare has stayed with him for years.

The story wasn’t shared for shock value alone. Brymo used it to caution younger musicians chasing relationships with married women, describing the habit as one that can quietly wreck both careers and lives.

It’s not the first time his name has come up in this kind of conversation. Back in 2023, he admitted to making a collaboration with singer Simi conditional on intimacy, an offer she turned down. He reportedly tried the same approach with Ghanaian singer Efya. When it all came out, he brushed it off as “artistic pursuit,” a comment that pulled Adekunle Gold, Simi’s husband, into a public warning for Brymo to stay away from his family.

The timing adds another layer. 2Baba and Annie’s marriage, which produced several children and endured years of public scrutiny, ended in divorce proceedings back in 2023. Brymo’s fresh disclosure has landed right in the middle of a story fans thought had already closed.

So far, neither 2Baba nor Annie has responded publicly to the claims.

What stands out isn’t just the confession, it’s why Brymo chose to make it now, wrapped in a warning rather than an apology. Whether it lands as regret or as another headline-chasing moment depends on who’s listening.
