Rita Edochie saw the clip and couldn’t stay quiet. What she heard, she said, sounded less like marriage advice and more like a curse dressed up in prayer.
The video, filmed in Igbo at what looked like a couple’s outdooring, showed the MC addressing the bride and groom directly. He warned the wife, Mirable, that betraying her husband would leave her “dead or mad.” Then he asked her to say “Amen” to it.
Moments later, he turned to her husband, Thomas, with a completely different message. If he strayed, the MC said, God would understand and forgive him, since it wasn’t really his fault.
The veteran actress posted the clip on her Instagram, saying she hoped it was staged for laughs, because the anger it stirred in her felt real.
She pushed back hard on the idea that men get a pass for cheating just because of “nature,” asking why women couldn’t be shown the same understanding. To her, forgiveness that only flows one way isn’t forgiveness at all, it’s favoritism wearing a halo.
She didn’t mince words about what that imbalance really is when it’s dressed up as faith or fairness.
It’s worth noting Edochie has spoken before about infidelity within her own family, which is part of why her reaction carried extra weight online rather than fading as just another celebrity comment.
