Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has completed US Army Basic Combat Training, honouring his late father’s legacy in a bold career switch that’s turning heads.

Joseph Momodu has taken a life turn few saw coming: the Nollywood actor is now officially a member of the United States Army. What makes the story stand out is not just the career shift, but the deep family meaning behind it, as he says the decision honors his late father.

Momodu shared that he completed Basic Combat Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, before being enlisted as Specialist J.A. Momodu. He says the move connects his present to a legacy that began long before his acting career.

He didn’t just wake up one day and pick a uniform over a script. He revealed that part of what pushed him toward enlistment was honouring his late father, who once served in the Nigeria Police Force. There’s something deeply human about that, a son finding his own way to carry forward a parent’s sense of duty, just in a different country, under a different flag.

The actor revealed that the journey was physically and mentally demanding, and the training lasted 10 weeks. By the end, he was serving with 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

That detail matters because it shows the move was not symbolic. It was earned through discipline, adjustment, and a complete change of environment.

Momodu’s story is striking because it blends grief, duty, and reinvention. For many readers, the unexpected part is not that someone can change careers, but that he did it in a way that feels deeply intentional and rooted in family history.

It also speaks to a wider truth: people often carry the memory of loved ones into the choices they make later in life. In Momodu’s case, that memory became a uniform, a new identity, and a fresh chapter.
